Multiple Accounts beta is here!
You may have noticed that we’ve been a little quiet on the updates front for a while now. Sorry about that.
We’ve been beavering away on Multiple Accounts. If you want to skip the blog post and dive right in, you can get the beta here:
Snap Beta Channel:
We’re pretty excited to use the Snap beta channel for the first time! So handy. If you already have a snap version of Hiri installed you can move to the beta using this command:snap refresh hiri --beta
If you’ve been running from a tarball and would like to try the snap while we’re in beta, use this one:snap install hiri --channel=beta

Why so long?
Multiple Accounts has touched almost every part of our code base (100,000 lines of code and counting!). Parts of the app had to be substantially refactored. Even though Multiple Accounts is our most requested feature, we were reluctant to start. Over the course of our journey we have built up quite a bit of technical debt. We knew we would have to deal with this in order to get into Multiple Accounts, and we have :)
So what’s next?
We don’t normally do beta’s but so much of the code has changed we figured it would be prudent to release a beta on this occasion. We’ve already fixed a bunch of bugs, but we’ve probably missed some. You’re help would be greatly appreciated.
Multiple Accounts also requires some changes to how we provision licenses. We’ll be rolling out a web interface that will allow you to manage this shortly after we release Multiple Accounts.
After that, we plan on returning to a more regular release schedule. For a while at least. We’re currently investigating IMAP support — our next most popular feature request. Again, this is a huge amount of work as it’s a completely different protocol. But it’s been on our roadmap for quite some time and feels like a natural step after Multiple Accounts. We’ll keep you in the loop!
